The individual make-up of Board of Directors of the SA British Chamber of Business is centred around the growth initiatives of the Chamber as well as what we believe are the key themes for the facilitation of bilateral trade between South Africa and the UK.  

The operation model of the board or more aptly referred to as the Chamber’s Value Proposition,  addresses these themes very specifically through a series of portfolios that have been allocated to the individual board members. To appreciate this allocation the operating model of the board is presented as follows:

The Chamber has identified the following themes as critical to trade and economic growth and indeed foreign investment. These themes focus on:

• Infrastructure growth and sustainability
• Energy development and conservation
• Environmental initiatives that balances the economic growth targets
• Security and safety
• [Corporate] Governance and its link with broad based BEE structure and initiatives

The Chamber “operates” different working groups that research and address the impact for business  operating across the economic, political and social  spectrum. This debate and consolidation of ideas and solutions takes place through active debate, networking and structured events. To oversee this process the directors of the board have been allocated [theme] portfolios.

Since the board commenced with its transformation programme in 2007, the Chamber has shown significant progress and as a board we believe that a significant value will be derived by the membership base going forward.
